Summit for Life is a nighttime uphill race and fundraiser for the Chris Klug Foundation. Summit for Life is truly a weekend celebration of our mission starting with an intimate dinner followed by a party on Friday evening, December 8th. Saturday December 9th's main event is the nighttime uphill race followed by a fun dinner, band and awards show on the top of Aspen mountain.

After a day on the slopes, ski into Chair 9 at the base of Ajax Mountain sporting your most stylish 90's throwback threads for the official opening party. Dance to the beats of DJ Mayfly as ski movies play on the LCD TVs and enjoy specials from Veuve Clicquot and our new winter bar menu. Vie for prizes in our Costume Contest, held at 6pm with winnings like gift certificates to wine and dine at The Nell and Chair 9 swag. Chair 9 will be open daily from 3pm-8pm.

Gather together to usher in the holiday season with the 5th annual Tree Lighting Celebration at The Little Nell. This family-friendly event is open to all guests and community members. Enjoy complimentary refreshments, carolers and quality time with Santa Claus. A full cookie buffet from the pastry kitchen will be offered along with The Nell’s famous hot cocoa (which can be “supercharged” with your choice of liqueurs from our cash bar). Please join us in lighting two trees and ushering in the holiday season.

We’re kicking off a season’s worth of festivities with a big, weekend-long bash, December 15-17, 2017. $6.50 Lift Tickets: Ski or ride a full day at Snowmass for the same price that was charged on opening day in 1967. Now that’s a once-in-50-years deal! $6.50 lift tickets are valid only at Snowmass, only on December 15 and can only be purchased in-resort. Fireworks over Fanny Hill, 9PM: Watch the night sky over Fanny Hill light up with fireworks as we salute 50 years of skiing and Snowmass!

This concert will include holiday favorites like "Silver Bells" and "Silent Night", as well as John's own "Christmas is for Cowboys," "Noel, Christmas Eve," and "The Peace Carol." Cabin Jump, Rail Jam, and Anniversary Picnic: Bringing past and present together, all skiers and riders are invited to watch or show their park skills, with special features including a modern remake of the 1970s classic Cabin Jump, while everybody is invited to enjoy a community picnic at Spider Sabich Race Arena. By the light of the stars, take part in a 1.2-mile snowshoe or cross-country ski tour around the Snowmass Golf Course. Stop along the way for cocoa and cookies at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. During the Starlit Treks series, an ACES astronomer will be on hand to provide constellation facts, with details on popular star patterns, planet alignments, Milky Way facts, and much more. At the end of the evening, enjoy a pasta dinner, s’mores under the stars at the Black Saddle Bar & Grille and live music by Tom Paxton.

Experience snow polo, the "Sport of Kings", featuring Nacho Figueras, Captain of The St. Regis team. A traditional polo event with a twist - the entire game is played on a field of snow at Rio Grande Park while set against a backdrop of snow-covered mountains.

Guests in the VIP tent are treated to signature St. Regis Aspen Resort rituals including afternoon tea, light fare and the iconic St. Regis Bloody Mary cocktail. The tournament can also be enjoyed complimentary from the sidelines.

Don't miss the early evening "air show" of waterfowl coming to spend the night at the preserve, explore our nature center, and learn about ACES while you enjoy the warmth of a small bonfire, the pleasure of good company, and the beautiful setting of Hallam Lake! This event is part of ACRA's 12 Days of Aspen and is free and open to the public.

U.S. Grand Prix, January 10-14, with five qualification events on the tour. U.S. Snowboard Team and U.S. Freeski Team athletes from around the country are set to compete in Snowmass for a chance to be named to the U.S. Olympic Team. Athletes will compete in ski and snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe events. TV: U.S. Ski & Snowboard, in partnership with NBC Universal, will provide 15 hours of coverage from all Grand Prix events on NBC and NBC Sports Network. 

In-person: Competitions will be held in Snowmass Park, below the Coney Glade lift.

The grueling course covers 24 miles and more than 10,000 vertical feet. Sport Division Teams start in Snowmass Village, traverse to West Buttermilk, then on to Aspen Highlands where they ski over to Aspen Mountain and end in Gondola Plaza.

The Grand Traverse is a backcountry ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen, Colorado. Competitors travel 40 miles over the Elk Mountains, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet. To ensure their safety, racers must have a partner, carry mandatory gear, and start at midnight when avalanche danger is low.

A cost is associated with the lunches, happy hour and the bartender’s brawl, but all other bacon items are free while supplies last.
